Photoshop & Photography Tips - Lesson I - Color Snap - Provo Photography

Here is an example of a Photoshop technique that I like to call "Color SNAP". I love photography, obviously... and I also love scrapbooking. I believe my skills in scrapbooking have been pushed to new heights since I have started using things I've learned in Photoshop on my images. Instead of just using my images right out of camera I like to give them a little "Color SNAP".

If you want to try this on your own... you must first realize there are MANY ways to do this in Photoshop.  This is just one way to get this effect.
  1. Open the image in Photoshop
  2. Open the Hue/Saturation adjustment layer
  3. Slide the saturation "slider" to the right.  (Not TOOO much though)  You still want the skin to look natural.
  4. Open the Brightness/Contrast adjustment layer
  5. Slide the Contrast "slider" to the right.  (again...don't over do it)
And there you go...

This will cause the image to jump off the page.  Below is an example I did for you.   Notice that the before image now looks a little hazy or fogy...when you originally may have thought it looked fine.  The second image has a lot more POP!

Stay tuned for more Photoshop Tips and Techniques in the future!

Little Ones - Utah Kids Photography

This little princess in 7-months old, and already posing for the camera. It's fun doing a few studio pictures once in awhile. What a pretty baby! We took these pictures while we were up in Morgan a couple weeks ago, but keep your eyes open...we will be having some Provo Kids Photography specials coming up this summer that you won't want to miss!

New equipment for our Utah photography!

Our new toy...   :)  The Epson P-3000.  We LOVE it!  It is so amazing!  While we are on a photo-shoot, we can upload the images to our Epson to verify the RAW images and make sure what we want in focus is in focus before we even go back home.  It's wonderful!

It replaces a laptop... but is much more convenient than a laptop because of its compact size.  And best of all...  once we get home, uploading the images to our computer from the Epson is a breeze!  Example:  We took 250 images... all RAW and they uploaded in 3 minutes.  I kid you not!  3 minutes!  AMAZING! :)   Every photographer needs one of these babies!

Description of the Epson P-3000:
An essential tool for the professional photographer, the Epson® P-3000 provides an innovative way to download, store and display thousands of photos, videos and more on the spot - without a computer. With the ultra fast processor, it’s easy to backup images right from your memory card or camera. Transfer thousands of photos in no time at all. Then, continue shooting.

With the large, four-inch LCD, you’ll be able to instantly review images, or share your portfolio with clients immediately after the shoot. In fact, you can easily view slide shows and videos, or listen to audio files. Best of all, you’ll be able to present professional quality images anywhere you go. Epson Photo Fine® Ultra LCD technology means you’ll see every color and detail. With Adobe RGB color space support, each viewer displays over 16.7 million colors. You can even zoom in and verify RAW files. With the Epson P-3000, it couldn’t be easier!

And, with a long battery life, they’re ideal for extended, on-location shoots. Save and view all your best shots at the scene. Or, transfer files from your camera or any USB device. You can even connect to your PC when you get back to the studio. The Epson P-3000 makes it easy to save and share images virtually anywhere, with amazing clarity and color.

Utah Family Photography & Little Ones Sneak Peak

You may remember this family from a previous post with fun family photography at the train station in Ogden, Utah. Once again...we had a wonderful time taking pictures of their cute kids in Morgan, Utah. Don't they have beautiful eyes!?! I love 'em! :) I didn't touch their eyes in photoshop. They are just that blue and that brown. Thanks guys! Isn't photography in Utah fun?
